We home school our children with the help of a fabulous resource center.
Every year they offer a novel writing class using nanowrimo. It is one of Maren's favorite classes. The first two months of school they get ready to write. During the month of November, they write, write, write. The goal is at least 1000 words per grade level. Maren was in 7th grade and did meet her goal.
Then the rest of the year, they revise, proofread, and edit.
This year the school brought in a professional publisher, who worked with each child and helped them publish their book.
It was such a great experience and here is Maren's final product.
It is 38 pages. It measures 5 1/4" X 8".
Here is an excerpt:
"Hello. My name is Abby, and the weird person next to me is my twin brother. This story is about us."
